Rooted in family values and established by Jane in 1986.

We’ve spent over 35 years putting customers first, cooking fish the Yorkshire way with a twist and giving you a warm and comfortable setting to enjoy our fantastic fish and other delicious dishes.

You’ll find us sitting just above our friendly, local Superfish branch in West Byfleet. Pop inside, stroll through Superfish, take the stairs and follow your nose. Whether you are looking for an intimate evening to spend with a loved one, or somewhere to enjoy some much-needed family time with a good meal, Jane’s upstairs is waiting for you. Our open-plan dining space is warm, welcoming and somewhere for all ages. Oh and it’s important to mention, that we always do our best to accommodate any special requests for you and your guests.

We aren’t just deeply rooted in family, but in the goal to be as sustainable as we can be when sourcing our ingredients.

We’re committed to sourcing our fish responsibly. That’s why all our fish comes from fully traceable and sustainable sources. Our premium Cod, for example, is caught in the cold, pristine waters of the Barents Sea, an area proudly accredited by the Marine Stewardship Council for its sustainability. We can trace our Cod back to the very day it was caught, the specific area and the vessel that brought it to us. From the deep blue, straight to you.

We take great care in selecting our potatoes.

Using different varieties to ensure the best quality throughout the year. From June to August, we’re delighted to use the Premier variety, grown especially for us by Tom Fisher in Essex. As the season changes, we switch to the popular Maris Piper variety, sourced from trusted farms in Cambridgeshire from August onwards. You can be assured of the quality of all our produce, as all the farms we work with have been personally inspected by our partner company, Superfish.

We fry our fish in beef dripping, giving it not only a glorious flavour, but a lovely light and bubbly batter.

When it comes to enjoying a drink with your food, we’ve got your back.

Discover a world of flavour with our wine selection, spanning renowned regions in England, Italy, France, Spain, and Argentina.

Pair your cod or haddock with a glass of Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, they are fresh and crisp and will compliment the delicate flavours of your fish.

If you fancy our homemade BBQ Ribs, try a glass of Malbec. They are a great pairing as the bold flavour stands up to the fruity and smokey flavours in our ribs. A glass of Malbec would also pair nicely with our Homemade Beef Burger.

We’ve got a great offering of non-alcoholic drinks too. Taste our 0% Peroni Libera or our selection of cold and hot drinks. There really is something for everyone.

"Thoroughly welcomed me as a solo dinner. Wait staff were super lovely and helpful too. The food was great and the portions are generous. It’s not a cheap dinner but it was very feel good and I would go back. Plenty of families there too, so suitable for anyone who wants simple food done extremely well. The only thing I would say is ask the venue to give the option to tip on the card machine as I felt so mean and didn’t have any cash!"

This was my first visit to Jane's Upstairs restaurant with a group of friends. What a delight ! The poached salmon was perfect as was the service.
